About

The Chinewrde Marching Band - filling your ears with quality since 1945

We are the Chinewrde Marching Band and although our name has changed a little over the years, we have had this name since 1945. You may have seen us on programmes like Midsummer Murders and Bargain Hunt!

To date our most prestigious and honoured praise was being nominated for the B.rits, but this is a bittersweet celebration as we are still coming to terms with the fact that we had to turn down a very important gig recently. We were asked to play at a wedding on Friday 29th April, unfortunately we were already booked on that day - which is such a shame as they are a lovely couple from London called Will & Kate and as it turns out they are quite well known too.

Still, we march onward and are currently awaiting a decision on whether we will be shortlisted to compose the new James Bond theme, so please keep your fingers crossed for us (although we are quietly confident).

We pride ourselves on being environmentally friendly and we omit less carbon than any other marching band, all of our instruments and uniforms are recycled.

Our current band members are: Sarah Somaton (Baton Twirler); Freda Flagstone (Flag Bearer); Albert & Bert; Sophia Appasionato (Xylophone and Glockenspiel); Annie Greenberg (Oboe); Dorothy Crochet (Percussion); Tina Clef (Flute); Blind Smokin' Toots (Sax); Barbara Mallone (Recorder); Lady Fleur Merlotte (Drums); Stixx Malone (Drums); Jerome Flabagaster (Viola & Sax); Felicity Blowhorn (Trombone) and the Trumpet Section.

We will be playing at the Kenilworth Carnival this year too (Saturday 2nd July 2011)
